Things I would have told myself a year ago to prepare for 2011:

  • Do NOT go to that riverside Cafe in Phnom Penh. You will get horribly sick for several days and vomit all over yourself. Not Glam. Not Glam at all.
  • Do NOT bend over the bathroom sink at weird angles when you’re washing your face. You will injure your back and spend a week in hell, and 3 months in kitten heels. Worst nightmare come to life.
  • When you leave for Hong Kong in June, bring lots of band-aids. It will not be pleasant.
  • For God’s sake, OBJECT when uniforms for the sales team are proposed. If you don’t, you will end up looking like a disco-casino dealer. E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y.
  • That iPad2 Docking Station is kind of unnecessary.
  • Your office plant needs more water than that occasional water spritz. It WILL die.
  • When your best friend says you can do better, believe and trust him in his judgement.
  • A contract isn’t a binding contract until the day it comes into effect.
  • It’s okay to cry and call your family when you need them the most.
  • Be a little bit more tougher inside than you supposedly are on the outside.
  • Things that don’t seem to be in your best interests, might be several months down the line.
  • You might feel at one point that things are going horribly wrong and you can’t pull yourself out of it. But, you will… Eventually. It’ll be hard, but you have people to love you and support you along the way.
